It offers four familiar and pre-defined scenarios with stringent objectives for managers to deal with. Entirely new for this release is the Challenge mode in addition to the familiar Career mode. New features include optional social networking through Facebook and Twitter, star players to help identify key players in other squads. The simulation of the game is shown using a 2D engine. Next to the updated information for the 2011/2012 season, new leagues are introduced such as the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League and Blue Square Bet North & South. Up to four active nations can be run simultaneously from a selection of twelve.
Formations can also be tweaked directly in the same way.
The game offers a selection of full, accurate and licensed squads with the user experience adapted for a mobile interface using large buttons and drag-and-drop techniques. It is also different from PSP title Football Manager Handheld 2012, which has less content than this mobile version and there are quite some differences. Football Manager Handheld 2012 is the mobile version of the annual Football Manager series and it offers a stripped-down experience of the main PC version.
